Dreams in folklore, by Alessandro Monaco (2011)

La forza dei gesti, by Davide Melis (2008)

La forza dei gesti, by Davide Melis (2008)

Manual work is the result of extensive experience over the centuries. In its value is preserved the culture of the peoples. The rhythm and the time of the act often reflect that original relationship with nature that marks the character and mentality of the people. In the ancient crafts, so you can be understood the close relationship between modernity and tradition. They are a clear testimony of the altered sense of time and the lost value of manual skill, that skill is learned through the continuous observation of the gesture.

Deu ci sia, by Gianluigi Tarditi (2010)

Deu ci sia, by Gianluigi Tarditi (2010)

The compassion for a loved one who is suffering is intertwined with the illconcealed desire to ‘get on with life’ no longer suffocated by the unbearable burden of a person who was dying and thus irremediably unproductive. All comes about in a brief lapse of time, one that is dominated by the mysterious figure of the “femina agabbadora”, in all her authority and solitude. The figure of the ‘femina agabbadora’ was very popular in Sardinia since the late 19th century. She was a midwife, nursed the sick and, when necessary, she would help with the suffering of those about to die. The most frequent method was a blow on the temple using an olive wood hammer (mazzolu).

Al di là del mare, by Matteo Fadda (2009)

Al di là del mare, by Matteo Fadda (2009)

During a night with the full moon in the sky, the sound of the sea brings us to a room where a child is sleeping. But at a certain point the still of the night is interrupted, the child is rushed to the seashore. A man on a rock, a dirty beach, a stolen territory. The man on the rock in the middle of the sea, maybe he has stolen that territory. After a scary night the child awakes, that was only a nightmare.
