Visionaria Film Festival 2017 – The grey zone
Visionaria comes back for its twenty-fourth edition, renewing its presence in the territory of Val d’Elsa, in the nearby of Siena.
The 2017 edition revolves around the several meanings of “Grey Zone”, to the neutral sense, not interpreted as “indifferent”. We want to analyse these issues together with artists, thinkers and technicians, through the language of cinema and performing arts.
We’d like to give back dignity to those who don’t agree to take a part in a struggle, to those who look for a shade between sharp positions. Because the spectator is essential in the art since it’s the one that understands and assimilates the work of the artist and since, as Primo Levi wrote some months before his death, even in the evil the difference between who acts and who lets act is abyssal.
This edition of the festival divides into 4 sections for short films, maximum 15 minutes long. The movies of each section will be selected by Visionaria partners or by special commissions as in the case of VideoArt section, which will involve curators and gallery managers.

“SguardiCorti” Short movies realised by Tuscan filmmakers. It’s the first edition of this special territorial section, through which Visionaria wants to build a net between local video artists and the festival itself.

Section 4
“VisionArt” Historic section of Visionaria, with shorts of video art, selected and shown in a loop during the whole festival. For 2017 this section will have three subject topics: white, black and neutral. Each short should be inscribed to just one of these topics.

Visionaria Film Festival XXIV edition is organised by the cultural association Visionaria in Siena, with the artistic direction of Giuseppe Gori Savellini, and will take place in San Gimignano and Poggibonsi (close to Siena) between 11th and 18th of November 2017.
Collaborators are the district of San Gimignano, the district of Poggibonsi, the Elsa Foundation, The Siena Art Institute, The Culture Attive Association, the University of Siena, the Opera Laboratori Fiorentini.
