INSTRUCTION FOR USE
by Barbara Mottola
In order not to be always in the same way, an experimental project thet is being presented for the first time with Visionaria 15: The Flying Screens Trophy, number 0. Since a long time Visionaria is fighting to give a good visibility to masterpieces that lack top distribution systems and that are longing to find the right channel to reach their audience, a larger audience. Since a long time it dreamt of being a light luggage travelling with all those who were willing to discover its content and be its friends. In this way we start our tour seeing far away beyond the horizon. This year we present eight situations, so far and different the one from the other but all of them so cosy and intriguing, hosting Visionaria with ten screenings already in contest in the traditional competition, but with a more complex format, in order to crate a prize of the audience parallel to the established one Great Visionary. The twenty short films in the contest, split in two shifts, will be alternatively screened and they will undergo the vote of the audience, a vote that will update its relative classification every day and that will be on line on our site. This will allow, by he end all the screenings will be put on air, to select the best ones, the ones that on the soirée of November 4the 2006, will have the opportunity to dispute, through the vote of the audience, the final and win the Flying Screens Trophy. The voting ballot will be from 0 to 9 for each short film; the sum of the votes will be a number that, divided by the number of the people present to the screenings will give a mark fro 0 to 9; an average that will show evidently the short reaching the 9 grade and the ones that have had the main number of votes, the best one. We are already organizing the next year edition that will see a mechanism of direct challenges, but we do not want to say anything further for the suspense and for the good omen. We will verify the result that nowadays it looks possible: the good welcome to our initiative is a good start. The final goal is, obviously, to guarantee that our authors have the largest network and the involvement of the audience and at the same time the possibility to start a small socio cultural survey on the situations that are far from us and close to us, on the different reactions that the environment and the people might have, on the differences we want to be kept joined in the name of creativity and quality: Because Visionaria Unites the Points. As last we thank all the organizations that have allowed us to use, through their collaboration, their availability and their enthusiasm, with the aim of designing
and finalizing this project that is for us hard and stimulating: first of all ARCI Provinciale di Siena, and particularly Fausto Betoncini, for the collaboration and his tips, and then all the people that are involved in the management of the places that we will visit, in the order centro civico La Meridiana, in San Miniato; Circolo Arci Ottagno in Torrita di Siena; Circolo Arci Bluetrain in Poggibonsi; Teatro Comunale di Piancastagnaio, during the celebration of the village for the chestnut feast, the Crastatone; the Teatro degli Arrischianti with its prestigious Nuova Accademia in Sartiano; and then the Soanr di Colle Val d’Elsa and the Corte dei Miracoli and the Mediateca Regionale Toscana in Siena. Without their help all this would have not been possible.
