The Nuova Accademia degli Arrischianti started in 1986, by the iniziative of a group of people fond of music and theatre who desired to animate the cultural life in Sarteano. The Association takes its name from the Accademia degli Arrischianti, founded in 1731, remaking of the same Teatro (1811- 1812), located within the Palazzo Comunale. In those years Accademia, besides organizine over 30 thetre pieces has promoted many initiatives: Acting classes, Clown, Mimic, Scenes, Theatre lighting, Theatre makeup, Improvvisation, Figures, classical concerts, pop, and above all jazz concerts. It collaborates with the municipality and other local associations for the different shows (Carnival, Giostra del Saracino, Christmas, Medieval parties etc….) and since 1990 it organizes the show “Venerdi Jazz” later “Sarteano Jazz & Blues” listed in the Festivals of the Regione Toscana. Since 1995 it organizes the Rassegna Teatrale “TeatroEstateArrischianti” and the Musical Prize and Festival in the memory of the pianist friend “Alberto Gori” disappeared at the age of 28. Since 2005 is part of Libero Circuito, independent theatre finalized to the emerging theatre show network. In 2005 has also created, in collaboration with the Cineteca Nazionale di Roma, the Rassegna Cinematografica “Vedere di Cinema”. Within the Accademia a company of 20 elements was formed. The Accademia degli Arrischianti has rediscovered and given value to Santa Vittoria, antique and suggestive Romanic Church (Pieve) roofless, used now as auditorium, which is used especially for summer representation being outdoor.
