The Mediateca Regionale Toscana is a Foundation of the Regione Toscana which finalities are the promotion and the diffusion of the audiovisual, cinematographic and multimedia culture in Tuscany. Since its founding, from 1984 to nowadays, the Mediateca has implemented its patrimony and actualized its projects orienting towards the last borders of the languages of audiovisual and multimedia. Even changing within the years its image, location and programmes, the Mediateca has always maintained alive and constant its role as spinning cultural centre, offering educational services and sharing its patrimony – video, in hard copy and multimedia - to students, teachers, companies, agencies, institutions, other mediatecas and libraries. Of primary importance in the life of the Mediateca Regionale Toscana the Centro di Documentazione composed of hard copies archives, videos e multimedia. In 2003, through the signature of a Protocollo d’Intesa (Agreement) between Comune di Siena, Università, Mediateca Toscana and Visionaria, a branch office in Siena was opened at the Museo Santa Maria della Scala, and to it followed the branch of Pisa in 2004. In Siena, we would like to make, starting from the videopatrimony of the Museo delle Papesse, the Italian archive of the video art documentaries containing either art masterpieces and art -critics (read Ragghianti) till the production that accompany each show or event that inaugurate each show on the national territory. A second archive will be obviously dedicated to every film and documentaries filmed on the Territory of the Province of Siena. A third archive will be built of short films, starting from the rich materials collected in years of activity of Visionaria Festival.
