FALUDI, International Amateur Film Festival, Budapest

The Ferenc Faludi Academy announces the XII. International Thematic Amateur Film Festival and Competition: 16-17. November 2007, Uránia National Film Theatre, Budapest.

“Everything is grace.” Fishes swim in the water and they are thankful for its existence, men are surrounded by the air and they give thanks that it moves in them and the invisible source of power keeps them alive and that it makes possible our laughing and crying to tear open again and again our deep, inner parts. All movements of the mole is the praise of the soil and the eagle is thankful for the wind for keeping him above the earth.
We take life for granted, because we live, we can live like fish in the water, bird in the sky, heat in the burning forest – humanely in the airy and close rams of our happiness and sorrow – naturally. And then we come to a situation where what we believed to be evidence comes to a halt, splay, choke and fall on knees. We now beg and pray for grace on the stage of coliseums, and death camps, in times of personal and impersonal wars that affect greater communities or build themselves in small families, wars between individuals or at the back of our minds, but we are rejected. Or if we get grace , all the others, who are important to us, remain there on the fields of merciless without air and water.
All power comes from above. Only the one, who has the power, can be gracious, and be merci-ful. The powerful gives mercy for his dependants. Being gracious is the duty of the powerful and the strong, and accepting grace is the right of the weak. Our film festival accepts the grace and waits for the weak, who themselves are looking for grace, asking for it, and calls also the strong ones, who have the possibility to transmit grace to anyone who watches their films.
If “everything is grace” then films made by strong and weak certainly are.

Faludi Film Festival is directed by Ákos Kovács.
